I find Chris's videos way more entertaining than any car shows on TV. I think he would do way better than the two British dudes.
looking at a '73 beetle, can't find the OBDII port?
Those cars will not have any kind of computer ports, so you'll have to do the inspection manually unless it's been converted somehow!
The point of buying used car u can’t afford new one most used cars have hidden problems best tip to not pay to much get reliable used cars like toyoda Hondas etc.
Thanks for sharing!
'Clean but not too clean' - so haven't followed your 'super clean engine bay' video ! Your videos are amazing dude...
What of online buying because you pay first and receive your documents and the vehicle
Wow. Finland text, thank you.
Isnt this the car he gave his dad and it had loads of problems later on
Is there a point in doing all these checks when you can send a qualified mechanic to give you a 10 page report on the car for $300 (for cars worth over $25k)?
You can do it yourself and save the $300, and almost every time I've seen people have a mechanic check it out (even when I did that when I bought the Maserati), all they do is plug in a scan tool (which you can rent for free at an auto parts store) and do a walkaround to make sure there are no obvious issues. I'm sure there are shops/people that will do a full inspection and check every little detail but from what I have observed that almost never happens. If you still want to send a mechanic make sure it's someone you trust because you don't want to have issues with a purchase that large!
Thanks for the video and getting straight to the point. I hate alot of talking before getting to the point. Excellent.
Never view a car in a car park top tip.
Thanks for the tip!
I want a corsaport.
Honestly bro, for a car with 130k this is a pretty damn nice car for its condition and year, my first car was an 08 Impreza and that car had 120k on it and it had issues with the engine and transmission, along with other expensive repairs I would have had to do, glad I got rid of it..
Same goes for testing a car during winter?
No used car is going to pass this test just by new if you want it like new
12:17 car says runs great, needs nothing. Run 🏃♀️
Don't buy a Jaguar. they are nothing but junk,
2K who didn't like this video, please explain why. Seriously, I need to know.
Hey chris. can you make a similar video spcific for a very old cars? I am talking 1990 and older.
Jag? RUN....
I just notice that i need to run 🏃♂️ away from my own car
Main complaints: Head Gasket leak Oil leak underneath Engine mounts worn out Loose belts Brake pads
Oil leak inspection from underneath
Should’ve watched this before buying a car today. 😂🤦🏽♀️
hyy so tell me my car is out of gasket so i can drive for short time?
4:16 - That's not a frame cross member, that is the bumper absorption beam. It is meant to bend like that upon impact and should not affect the frame unless the impact is severe (at which point you'll have more than just that beam pushed inward). They can be replaced with relative ease.
In my opinion, buy a used car and fix it for about half of the money you paid. sometimes we need to pay double if we buy an attractive truck. that is a therapeutic shop.
The most expensive parts of the car are the engine, clutch, and gearbox. But the air conditioning could be expensive too if you replace a newer one. For me, a car is more expensive to get married.
here in Philippines. we always check if its submerged in flood
Great video!
Thanks!
Always check the wooder pump.
Wish I had watched this. I fucked up sooo bad
super knowledgable guy chris..great channel! except for your annoying new york accent
That was a nice serviced Jag!
Maybe a dumb question. I have an OBD2 scanner, why does his have half the pins missing when my cheap one has all of the pins?
Hay Chris, why are you useing samasong phone, in stade of useing apple phone??!!!!!!!!.
Those engine covers hide the leaks pretty well. Good reason why alot of Toyota's and Honda's don't have big engine covers.
the owner is lucky to see his face edit: you can't cheat with this guy when inspecting mode on...
That was me in the mini van blowing smoke at 879,567 miles on odometer.
The omniscient wedge approximately snore because sound relatedly jam save a right man. cooing, puzzling loss
Getting a car inspected from Chrisfix is like having your food tested by Gordan Ramsay
Chris I would like to thank you for all the wisdom! I learn a lot!
In my Caravan I use the oil dipstick to check my transmission fluid level.
To find out the proper transmission fluid level i took it and had it's filters and fluid changed. Dove it till it was hot and then ✔ levels and made a mark on oil dipstick, the waited till it was cold and ✔ levels then made a mark. I don't know how accurate it is but it's something.
Thanks for sharing!
Imagine selling your car trynna rip other people off then you see Chrisfix approaching 😂
9:51 I also do the same with the coolant reservoir. A blown head gasket will leak pressure into the cooling system and the hoses get rock solid when hitting the throttle.
Well, did u buy it or what
White smoke can mean somthing different as well. I filled my oil up and put way to much in and white smoke was just coming out constantly lmao got it fixed though.
Those were brake lines you pointed to not power steering lines
Me sitting here looking at the 300000 mile bmw that just has a full puddle of just red flued and oil and trans flued it's fine
@ChrisFix haha
:o
I love how you explain things. I don't care about cars but enjoy learning from these videos.
I'm glad you still enjoy learning from the videos! Thanks a lot!
Another Great video, again buddy 👍 very informative & easily understandable information.. 💯👌
Thanks a lot!
I did notice some drops of water coming out the tailpipe each time the car was started. Is that indicative of any possible problem?
Wish I seen this back when I brought my Cadillac, would’ve saved me lots of time and money
I had a question: I noticed in one of your videos you mentioned if you can not take the car on a test drive it is not worth the time. Not all cars are going to be able to drive. I have been doing some research and have come across a couple of cars that I am interested in buying but both of them are not drivable. One of the cars, the rear cross member was broken and on the other car the catalytic converter was stolen. Wondering what I should do? Is it worth looking at? I am trying to buy, fix, and sell cars. I am going to look at the car with the catalytic converter stolen tomorrow. Hope to hear from you soon ChrisFix or others! Thanks!
In this video you talked about the head gasket and the springs.. but in other video you changed it for 60 dollars. I mean spend a few days max to change the gasket and springs might not be the end of the world?
Love your videos
Thanks a lot Lance!
Super useful. Thank you
kinda wish that i had seen this before buying my car
He’s buying a car with his logo on the front plate?
I put it on to protect the seller's identity!
The oil cap doesnt show clearly a head gasket problem... could be condensation depending on temperature factors as well as if the car is used for short journeys.
Huge tip if you live in a climate that rusts cars u should always buy a car thats been uncoated early in its life at least once
Hi Chris. Is it worth buying a car when the gearbox is humming?
7:05 When you miss re-entry
Hi Chris, I have limited knowledge about cars however your you tube educates me alot to learn about cars. I have a question, " I have a 2011 Jeep Liberty with a broken water pump. How can I know that the head gasket is also affected. It has done 170k and according to my mechanic it would be viable to change the whole engine plus transmission for more than $5k. Please I need your help. Thanks!
What was that fluid dripping from the exhaust pipe?
Normal condensation escaping!
Hey I have oil in my coolant tank. No coolant/milkshake on oil cap though. I am also leaking oil but have yet to find the leak. Can this still be a blown head gasket? 2017 Audi A6 2.0 Quattro premium. 103,000 miles.
@ChrisFix will Do. thanks for the reply.
Could potentially be one, I would drain your coolant (and clean the tank) and fill it up, and while filling it see if you have continuous bubbles in the funnel, if so you might have a head gasket leak and will need to get that fixed. I have a video on how to fix one here, check it out: ltworlds.info/home/vaizdo-ra-as/1HiKwrujabt7hKw.html
@chrisfix
I'm 10 and I'm going to try this to my dad's car
Now i know how to buy a danw used car dude thank you so much ...
No mention of Timing belt replacement especially interference engine. Or maybe that particular engine has timing chain.
This one has a timing chain, but you are right! It is a good idea to look for a belt replacement sticker or ask the owner when the timing system was last serviced!
only good thing about quaranteen is watching these 4yo vids that are still very helpfull ;) thanks ChrisFix!
thanks Chris! trying to buy myself a second car and I don't wanna make a rookie mistake like I did the first time around appreciate the video keep it up brother!
Hello Chris... Is there any trick to catch the cheating done by seller on speedometer mileage. I understand some sellers do take help of service centers & reduce the speedometer mileage .
I'm going to check out an 04 Jaguar X-type tomorrow with 95,000 miles. Wish me luck. (If everything checks out it's going to be my first car) :)
1:14 SELLER'S FACE REVEAL
Good check Mr. Chrisfix and thank you indeed for your training online..We look forward to for the next tutorial video..Thank you very much..
you see oil leak under the car and all its ok, are you sure about that ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? edit : ????????????????????????????????????????
10:41 little ticks
That's it!
Also, run a cotton swab inside the tailpipe. If the engine is burning oil the cotton swab will pick the any greasy oil residue that remains in the tailpipe as the exhaust fumes exit. As a rule of thumb research the car and make sure the car uses a timing chain and not a timing belt. Timing chains are made to last the life of the car whereas timing chains are made to last around 120,000 km.
Mr Anderson my auto teacher said punch the gas on park for a minute, if engine doesn't blow up youre good.
Take a note 发动状态 1.
You really do the best videos. You don't just explain but also demonstrate what you are saying. Too good.
Thanks a lot!
Hey Chris .. how to check bad automatic transmission???
I’m seeing this video 20hrs too late
Chris why not use a FM transmitter. For you radio
Chris... I don't think this video is one of your better work. I've seen your other videos, the other ones are gold. This one not too much. Really depends on the car you buy. You mentioned about getting under the car, if it's a low car, you'll need a jack to lift the car up. So to look under the car just out of nowhere, may not be accessable. I only watched half through this video and I realized this video is not for me. It might help somebody else. But it wasn't for me.
I just watch these videos because I'm bored
What if there's smoke when you open the oil cap ?
If its an American or European made car with over 80k miles, walk away.
He sir! With all my years with LTworlds, you are the first that I am subscribing to. With aaaall of the information that you provide I will be tuning in for past, present, and future videos. You've given me the motivation to start on this journey as a auto mechanic. My past experience to the most, was doing an okay job by working in an auto parts store. The videos that have been popping up, all with your name, and content may make me pause it but I'll seem to always want to watch again all over again. Thanks for what you do!!!
Worn out engine can be repaired?
It can be! It's a lot of time and labor to do it though!
How to inspect a used car, Step one don’t buy a car that the seller drove before you came
I need to do this to my car now thanks...
I fucked up on the purchase Chris haha.
I once drove 70 miles to check out a car . I asked if it had any codes showing up ? He said nope . Got there and plugged in my scanner and 4 codes showed up including " Engine Misfire " which could be lots of things . Not to mention that the brake pads were grinding into the rotor so bad it sounded like a lathe , cutting metal .
I have done the same thing. Makes you so mad at the dishonesty of people.
Bubbles forming in the coolant tank can indicate a bad head gasket when running.
Are there universal scan ports or do you need to buy ones specific to a particular make of car ?
Check out the "Hoe Zizz"
You are awesome. I love your videos
just learned all the things I didn't do when buying my last used car... well, not all... but much... I got lucky I guess - so far so good
interesting im saling spares that's great
It's easy to sell a beat down car to someone inspection or not.. just put a cheap sale price on it. Boom they'd come running. Even if it's in a bad condition they'll take it.. idk humans just love cheap stuff lol
