I will be at POCONO SPEEDWAY this weekend Aug 4th and 5th for some drifting so come by and say hello and maybe even come for a ride along!!! I worked hard to make this fix as simple and cheap as possible so anyone can do this at home! If I can cut a hole in my exhaust the size of a playing card, you can fix your small leak! Here is what I used: Exhaust Putty: amzn.to/2vaDye2 Exhaust Tape: amzn.to/2MakvqN Exhaust Clamp: amzn.to/2n4X9b7 Sandpaper (100 grit): amzn.to/2KfXwsw Shop Vac: amzn.to/2AySXdc Electric Leaf Blower: amzn.to/2n5nOoc
Unbelievable how long does that stuff last hopefully I don’t need to use it but pretty cool
Hi 🙋🏼♂️ Chris, thanks for your very informative video as always !!! Now I know. Hay Quik question, what is the name of your tool box ?
Man I love the way you explain everything you could be a teacher I'm just starting to watch your videos I would really love to meet you in person could learn so much from you
For small holes and cracks, you could probably use furnace cement if you happen to have some on hand, to save a little money.
Chrix fix you think that can do the same to my car is Volkswagen Passat
Hey Chris, random question. On my exhaust there small sections that are rubber covered in a metal mesh. But over time the metal has rubbed off and the rubber has burned straight through. Would tape work? Or a different method? Because I would prefer to spend a couple bucks at autozone then buy a new y pipe for my car. Thanks!
I like the 13 min video
I wish they had these products 30 years ago when I had a cracked exhaust pipe. Nothing available would last more than a couple weeks and a new pipe was $600. Too expensive for a college kid.
I have a exhaust leak on my 1997 Honda Civic. I honestly can't wait to do this myself at home.
Chris will this work for a cracked catalytic converter
Wodder??🤔 🤣
👍
3:25 And all dust from catalytic converter on your pistons now... This is so f*@king Genius! Next video will be: How to bore cylinders and replace pistons in your Mustang at home.
Can we use MCL as Putty Chris?
Anyone know why I did the paste on my exhaust manifold over a crack and let it sit for 72 days i n the summer but after 1 month the paste cracked..?
Hi I wanted to know what kind of plasma do you have? Thanks
Nice well done congrats.
You are awesome!!!
Covered every option. Near perfect DIY video
Thanks a lot!
Nice
Maybe put a new gasket on the flange 🤷🏻♂️
Just add food dye into the gas, watch for the purple smote! also, beware of fire for those dumb enough to try
Chris why did you cut your truck really fine exaust pipe?? you just could get a pipe same diameter as the exaust pipe, thet show us how it works, then block one end of the pipe ,in the other sideuse a blower and you can test if there's leaks.
Gotta show you guys that this actually works!
Can you this putty on plastic?
💯
I love your videos but this is the worst I ever seen from you. Yeah it looks easy and cheap as *beeb*, but why didn't you also show how to do it right from the beginning and take the manifold of and change the gasket? And of course also show how hard or easy it is to take of the putty you've put on there.
Are those Konig rennforms on the mustang ?
Dude you are my hero!!!
Wunderbar Man ok. Good job. I make ones a jeahr engine room cleaning ( warm water-cleanstoff-silikone and i look if I find anything pleace with rust. Thats it. 1x/Jeahr-.
Don't use silicone, if you find rust and have used silicone it will be hard for the paint to get som good grip and stay on the surface you've painted.
Hey ChrisFix, what brand of soap do you use for your Soapy water???
H e took good care of the engine bay you can see it's so cLEaN
Wow guy is a genius! I've been following your videos. Thanks for the DIY tips!
Chris, all your video's are the best! I learned so much and saved a tin of money!
You save me so much money lol
At first I thought it was a muffler bearing that was bad. P.S: Commend to you Chris for cutting your exhaust just to show us proof it worked.
Wow. You're awesome. Thanks for all the usefull tipps :) I found your channel like 1 Month ago and I've learned so much about car's since than :D Every day I think about working on the car :D
Ok Chris I tried to find what I would assume is an exhaust leak. My issue is I have fumes in the cabin. I have a 2012 Cruise manual trans. The piping appears to be solid, no bubbles. I used an air compressor on the cold engine. What is your recommendation?
ممتاز
Using tape it will melt plus will still leak
I wish I saw this yesterday! Arc welder blew a hole on my exhaust while trying to repair it I made a 4cm hole.
I was lucky enough to to find a product called tiger tape I think. Did the job. The auto parts guy had to look it up.
@ChrisFix You are Awesome!!! By Far one of the best and most thorough YT's out there! Much Appreciated!!! 7.22M Subscribers.. And deservedly So! God bless you!
can you use epoxy like jb weld instead?
@ChrisFix thanks for the reply man I didn't expect. What's the generic name of the product? I can't find "putty" anywhere.
Nope
I kind of liked it when he was less enthusiastic.
Hi Chris, can I do this method with a turbo car ? I have a Mazda cx7 turbo, will the positive pressure damage the turbo?
Thx Chris! Happy holidays
You should be able to, there shouldn't be enough pressure with a shop vac or leaf blower to damage anything!
This was awesome!!!
Thanks!
Would small amounts of dirt from the vacuum getting pushed into the exhaust system cause any issues?
Nope
Guys, if you have a rusted out hole ANYWHERE in your exhaust system, you can bet there are plenty of other corroded spots ready to blow out and form new holes. Are you going to crawl under your vehicle and try patching them all as they show up?! 99.99+% of all drivers are going to do the sensible thing and just head to the nearest mechanic or muffler shop to get the exhaust system replaced with fresh pipes and mufflers as needed. If you're lucky, you won't also need a catalytic converter which can triple your cost.
I have an exhaust leak on my truck but I don’t know where to put the tape. From the manifold it goes straight to a muffler that is completely rusted out and you can put your whole arm straight through it, unrelated but after sitting idling I start to get very sleepy. Is this from the rusted out muffler being right underneath the cab? Also where do I put my exhaust tape since the muffler falls apart when I put pressure on it?
He like depends on soapy wooder
Make sure not to leave that putty on the exhaust stud threads and bolts it makes it a real pain to get them off if you ever need to replace your headers
It's always a good idea to clean up any excess to prevent that!
What means Catalyst System efficiency bank 2 ?
I wish I could find a nice car like that my car is sad maybe worth 100
You got a bit of putty on the exhaust nut. Would this cause any issue if in the future you needed to remove these?
No it breaks right off because it’s brittle
Can U wrap the cat converter?
when did u get 2 mustsangs
I did not expect the plasma cutter to come out 😂
ChrisFix: Cuts exhaust to show us the power of exhaust tape His viewers: *NOW THAT'S A LOT OF DAMAGE*
Lol anything for you guys!
Thank you Chris
I am very impressed of your vacuum technique to suck in the extreme heat
Great video. Your a fn genius. that way to find leaks is brilliant. Why did you remove all the J-B weld labels on the extreme heat? Do you think it is a bad product? I can understand you cutting off the top of the product package. Did you actually take the time to conceal the name on the jar?
Great video 👍 i have a leaking manifold on my logging skidder im gonna try the putty fix
Shame on you Chris for bull shiting all these people into thinking you can seal an exhaust leak the way you did. You get paid regardless though.
I'm sorry bro but there's no way you sealed that leak with the technique you used. I mean it looked good to your ordinary average everyday uneducated auto individual but not one who has done this before. Whether you added heat or not in 2 to 4 hours your work would not of cured and been ready. NO WAY!!! #2. You never got 6 years on your truck after fixing an exhaust leak with your method or anyone else's. That's insane to say when you're using the same type of sealer I saw you use in the video. That stuff is junk. You need to show it over and replace the exhaust manifold. That's the correct way to fix it.
We love u and nice job my dad had a exhaust manifold leak and can u show us how to replace it
Thanks a lot! If you have to replace your exhaust I would follow this video: ltworlds.info/home/vaizdo-ra-as/21-ll711o6dkn7w.html
Dunno why but the glove on the Driftstang made me lol
Would this work if just start the car and push the gas a little bit and spray soapy water?
I loved this video. He is very clear and understandable.
Instead of using the putty, how hard would it be to actually change the faulty exhaust manifold gaskets?
Depends on how much space you have to work in your car. I’ve had a car that required me to damn near remove the entire front half to replace AC lines.
Can you exhaust tape a flex pipe?
This guys a legend
I thot you had one mustange
You are great man!
I dont understand why a broken or leaking exhaust pipe makes an engine loss power....can someone plz make this clear for me
you are a badass kind sirI I bid you good day!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!
car was in great shape. why not make it a solid fix by replacing the manifold, or at least first re-torque the header/manifold bolts before you goober it up with that cement?
Your the man Chris
Im not falling for no shop vac in the tail pipe!!!
Haha I get it now!
@ChrisFix Beverly Hills Cop joke - I ant falling for no banana in the tail pipe!
What do you mean?
Thanks for showing!!
Of course!
I thought this was another April fools joke and saw it was uploaded on my birthday
Awesome job chris. I've learnt loads of handy tricks watching your vids over the years
can you get pulled over for that sound?
Don’t use the putty or tape they are not a fix but a bandaid, take it to a real shop and get if fixed properly because if your car has that on it when you take it to a real shop we will charge more than if you had brought it in to be welded right from the get go.
Only one that I approve of is the band clamp. The putty and the tape make welding the crack or hole causing the leak a ton more aggravating to fix
He literally saved hundreds of thousands of labor fee.
But But But, can the putty, tape or clamp fix my broken relationship ?
:o
Why does this mustang have way nicer Headlights and taillights than urs 😭
Got all the new edge styling lol
My renaul hed this
I used welder
But i fix it
your legend Chris!
@ChrisFix literally just used this method this afternoon.. haven't started the car but im waiting for it to dry. Its currently snowing where I am.
Thanks a lot!
For me BIG FAILED
NOT DURABLE ...THE NAME OF THAT JOB IS BALIK BALIK IN THE PHILLIPINES AFTER HOW MANY DAYS BROKEN BECAUSE OF HOT CAME FROM ENGINE
I have a 2006 Ford f150 I hope this does the trick .
Instant thumbs up 👍
Very good.
Thank you. Was able to fix my wife's car for under $15. 00.
The problem with putty is the over time it will start to crack and detach itself, specially if used on manifolds
Hello Chris, thank you for all your awesome videos. it's a really big help. Any chance you know it will work also for a hyundai getz exhaust flex pipe?
I have a Ford 500 limited with the 3.0 duratec engine. The muffler has a small pinhole on the bottom, about 3 or 4" from the engine side. It doesn't seem to me where they world put a pinhole on purpose but I want to make sure before I fix it. It's an easy fix but I don't want to fix a hole that's supposed to be there. Do you know if these mufflers have a pinhole in them and where it would be if it does? Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!! THANKS!!
What you're looking it is probably the condensation escape, don't patch that! 5:55
You forgot the isopropyl alcohol 😢
If there is a broken part do I replace the part or use the putty
3:23 top tip: always switch your filter for the vacuum
@ChrisFix no problem
Thanks for the tip!
U are a true legend
Thanks a lot!
Could I use a hairdryer? 🤔
You deserve five stars, nicely done.
Thanks a lot!
Hello I need help I have a engine light on po420 code 2000 Toyota celica I found out that the leak was before the catalytic if I repair would the engine light gone?
@ChrisFix thank you for reply what can cause po420?
Sounds like it should!
