How to Fix an Odometer That Doesn't Spin
DIY odometer repair and LED dash light install. Learn how to fix your odometer to show the correct mileage when you drive. The odometer gear can easily be repaired by taking the gauges out from the dashboard, but I also show you how to replace the speed sensor. Since we are taking the dash apart, I show you how to install LED bulbs for your instrument cluster.

I'm 17, i'll be driving this year. Why do I wat to buy a salvage car and build it up. I reallllyyy want to :D
Not Odometers are not the same! In my Estima You can see the Odometer is not a circle it's a downward curve so if the engine is off. It lays on the Speedometer's Half circle
7:49 thats a very asmr sound for some reason
Hi Chris, I've been watching your videos for years... Just saw this video..., my Toyota Camry XV10 Odometer is working but the speedometer speed showing is lack behind, for example I'm driving 100km/hr but it just show 50~60km/hr or less, may I know what's the problem? Besides, the engine oil light is flashing even after I send for servicing, changing engine oil and changing new oil switch, may I know how to settle these issues?
Do you know if you have larger or smaller tires installed? And is there any kind of strange noise coming from the engine?
I got a V6 mustang this year today and I’m going to try this out! Thanks
Let me know how it goes!
Sorry Chris, you lost me at 'make sure you disconnect the negative terminal of your battery'

How to make your car have less miles...
So I messed up my speedometer and now I'm lost. I did what you said, by putting it all the way down to zero before removing the pointer needle, but then when I was inside the guts of the thing I moved the gears a bit, just to see it turning, and I think that fecked up the speedometer needle calibration, because when I put it all back together, now the needle doesn't move right. Either that or I put the needle back on too snugly, perhaps, and now there's too much friction to allow it to turn right, perhaps. On the bright side, however, I was able to replace the burned-out backlight and warning light bulbs, as well as the odometer, which was my main reason for doing all this -- and you were 100% right, it was the crumbled worm gear. Any advice on the speedometer would be greatly appreciated, still.
@ChrisFix >> Also, the problem is that any speed but zero is now the speedometer's new zero
Okay, so in the final analysis (I've been completely unable to restore my speedometer to the proper working condition it was before I successfully repaired only the odometer), I don't recommend this repair at all, since all I did was permanently de-calibrate my speedometer/tachyometer while doing it. And I think it happened because any turning whatsoever of the gears inside throws the speedometer off permanently, and I didn't know I couldn't even test the new worm gear out by turning the gears after the replacement. The best thing to do, is don't even try to replace the odometer at all -- it's a trap. Just buy a whole new speedometer which presumably includes the shoddy stock worm gear, or just trade the whole vehicle in -- with the new vehicle almost certainly having yet another shoddy worm gear that will only last to just over 160,000 miles, or else some other deliberately-misengineered stock part. Either way, there's apparently no way out of hell whenever you buy a Ford. You just have to become an alcoholic, heroin, or pill addict to soothe your nerves or pray you meet a quick and painless death as soon as possible, to gain your freedom from all the endless pain and nightmare.
@ChrisFix >> Which one is the stepper motor, and is it replaceable? Also, thanks for getting back to me on this so quickly
I'm glad you got those other issues fixed! Most likely the stepper motor is going out, but if you adjusted (tightened) it, just try loosening it and see if that corrects the issue!
Me to
I'm sorry, but what the heck is a s c r e w g u n ?
0:10 *"And one thing i immediately noticed is neither the trip odometer, or the regular odometer are working."*
Hey man I hope you see this , I know this video is pretty old now. I have almost the same car, I recently did all this to my baby, I used cheap bulbs though and had a major power drain the next day, but I replaced them with a better set and so far so good, however, my odometer still isn't working, I've taken it back apart to make sure all the trash was out and that the numbers weren't somehow bound up, I can hear the gear clicking, it's just not moving the numbers. Let me know what you think if you can. Thanks, and I love the way the bulbs look too, I gotta do my heater controls next, it looks awesome with the radio I got for Christmas.

Will this fix a speedometer that doesn’t work?
I like how he calls a power drill an electric screw gun
7:03 "good" 😎 my son and I disassembled his dash in attempt to fix this issue. It was shocking how intricately you had to twist and push this thing to get it both off and back on. What you did looked WAAAAY easier.😂 we did some diagnostic test that indicated that it wasn't whatever that guy said it could be. At any rate... We may be trying again using your ideas on what could be wrong. Subaru legacy....
Hey Chris do a video on how to repair sun visors in the mustang, visors with the mirrors with lights I’m gonna put new material on myself!! Just an idea
Let me tell you something I’ve used many of your videos you’re the best in these demonstration help or DIY videos thank you great step by step
removing screws with an electric tool is ok, But you should never use it to re install the screws as it can cross thread and or strip out the screw holes.
Why was fuel meter still showing reading even battery is disconnected ;; hmmm sound something intersting ghost car 😁😁
Hey there!! I'm new to your channel and I love the way you explain things, I watched your video about the odometer issues and I need your help. The odometer and trip odometer just stopped turning on my 1995 Nissan pickup 4 cylinders with an automatic transmission. Hey Chris just used this very video on my 1997 mustang cobra to fix this odometer issue. I followed this video step by step and it came out perfect!! Thanks so much for doing this!!! Couldn’t have done it with out you
ChrisFix you do amazing work, both on your videos and your content, so thorough and easy to follow. Keep up the amazing work, thanks again Chris!!
I'm glad you fixed your odometer! Thanks a lot!
Great video Chris as always, also try out some terminal spray to help keep your battery terminals from corroding so your battery can last longer, also when you replaced the gear it would have been a good time to regrease the gears since the ones did not have any to help with binding. Have a great day.
Great job on your video
This car could be the best project car in the world 🌍 for me because it’s awesome
Many thanks mate
Awesome Man!!!
If u shift your gear in that way someday you might break your gear lever🤣🤣
When I took mine off I noticed a bunch of yellow and brown gunk coming out of the wiring harnesses. I tried cleaning it but it was too sticky. Is that normal and how long can I have it like that before anything happens to my cluster?
Im only 11 bit i cant stop watching these
now would be a good time to roll back ur odometer so it looks like it has less than 50k miles xD lmao
