  • Chris, got a question, I’m wanting to put that rear coilover on my car, on LMR there is not much info on how much it lowers ther car, how much did it lower yours and how is the ride quality also, is that the same rear coilovers sold on LMR? Thanks for the great video

  • Seems like the shock mount will now have to take even more pressure than it was designed for since it's now the shock and the spring. Not sure if that is a good thing.

  • Hey Chris, love your videos and I know this one has been around a while now, but I watched a few days ago and wanted to make a couple of comments. This coilover conversion is potentially disastrous and should not be used on the road. To explain, the top mount is a shock mount and was never designed to support the stress of being a spring mount and therefore the entire weight of the vehicle and the pounding force of supporting the weight of the car going over bumps and potholes etc. it will eventually fail. Where I live, if someone did this type of modification it would need to be signed off by an engineer (I doubt any engineer would sign it off) before it was allowed to be used on the road. If the car was involved in an accident with this modification the owner would be liable due to it being an unapproved modification. Surely you could just have put in new lowered shocks and springs in the standard places. Sorry dude, this is a bad idea.

  • If you have adjustable rear independent suspension and you only lower the spring will it mess up the shock ? I bought a new/used car with adjustables and I want to lower the rear more but I don’t want to mess with the shock since I don’t really know how to adjust them .. so back to my question if I were to only lower the springs alone could it damage my shocks? Like cause it to bottom out ?

  • I don't know the likeliness of getting a reply but Could I do this to also raise my cars rear so it can carry more weight before bottoming out? I have been doing more projects in my yard and think my suspension may need to be changed. Would I need to get a stronger spring or would setting it higher do the trick? I drive a 2006 Ford Focus ZXW, its my first car and has 350k+ Kilometers (217k+ Miles). I often carry luggage, firewood, and other heavy loads either on the roof or in the back with the seats down.
