When I saw this I thought "What Crazy thing is Honda doing to their engines now!!" Then I noted the date of the upload. April 1st! Chris went to a lot of video editing trouble to make it look like Honda had actually installed springs on top of the pistons.
How do we know this head gasket replacement is real?? You made the piston springs look legit! Damn fine April fools joke
Man that was one elaborate April fools joke! As a non-car guy I totally bought into it. The graphics, using parts from who knows where gave it a sense of realism. You are not somebody I would want pranking me on April 1st. You had my wrapped attention at how to replace piston springs, head gaskets, etc.. Now I’m going to have to watch another video on how to replace the head gasket so I learn how to do it and not have an a part of an April fools joke. You got me, hook, line, and sinker!
It was some trouble, but I managed to install the piston return spring by corkscrewing it into the spark plug hole
You should do a video on how to change out your catalytic converter filter fluid i need a good instructional video of how to do it
No seas mentiroso i mamón
Haha you did it well xD
If you ever get a hold of a b18a1 please do a teardown just so there's a clear good video about it
Idiot
Thats not a joke! I looked on my car and somebody has stolen my piston return springs! I putted in new ones and I've got such a nice compression, that I need a new starter motor! :-)
Where’s the turbo video
Car sounded like it has diesel engine xddd
Aren't you worried that the piston return springs will get destroyed in the combustion chamber from all the heat? A strange place to put springs at though.
WAIT WAIT WAIT LMAO Your telling me... it took me 2 years to figure out this was an April fools joke🤣I clicked off the video before he revealed the April fools. IVE LIVED 2 YEARS WONDERING IF MY PISTON RETURN SPRINGS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION
😂😂😂 love it
How did he get the blue driver app to say piston return springs??😂
Is getting the heads resurfaced necessary???, or is it okay to just clean how you did
I installed preload springs under the pistons on my Norton Commando, now I can kickstart it with my hand...
BRUH I BELIEVED THIS MOEFOE
w.t.f
;)
its 7:11 at 8:36
Idk why people always say it’s so hard to repair head gaskets
xaxa Piston Return Springs xaxaxa
Dude you had me.. Never torn down a Honda so who am I to argue. Nice set up how you had the broken ones and all.. Well played..
Hehe :p
What's happening to the valve.. 😜😜🤣
Wow lol
@#%$😣🙈
if they were real, imagine how freaking MASSIVE they would be if they were in an EMD 20-710 (A Locomotive Engine with a Displacement of 710 Cubic Inches Per Cylinder and has 20 Cylinders hence the name, 20-710.). I would say it would use Semi-Truck Suspension Springs.
Chris fix I'm your biggest fan I love the techniques you put in your videos you put alot of work in it I wanna be like you one day and be able to fix all sorts of cars I dont even care if I get paid or not I love this and I think I found my true calling thank you for helping me with things my school couldn't or didnt want to because I'm a girl but im a hell of a good technician and I will be the best when I get on my feet but thank you you really have me on my toes wanting to know more
imagine pulling apart your engine and pausing the video step by step while you do it just to find april fools youve completely fucked yourself
haha
@ChrisFix - could you make a video on how to replace head gaskets on a 2001 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0 V8? Please!
Gosh dangit I totally fell for this. I've watched the blinker fluid video and because I have a very basic understanding of cars I knew that it was a prank. I even thought wow I wonder how some people would react after finding out its a prank but now I know.
My mechanic told me to put on a full on shock absorber to smoothen out my ride and he said that I would gain 150 - 200 hp no problem, I watched him weld it at the valves and piston... He said when the ride is still rough I should come by to his shop again to change it with air ride piston suspension cause he said I could adjust the stroke of the suspension and gain roughly about 500 hp, do you think I should follow his tips or should I stick with these? Cause for some reason the car won't even turn over and start
@ChrisFix Man... I knew it I was scammed🤦
I would stick with these for now ;)
2 years later, we still don’t have a real head gasket video😥
I'm impressed how easy it is to get the head off that engine. With mine, I had to take off the motor mounts, jack up the engine, and a bunch of other BS.
Darn!
How did you clean the cylinder head?
@ChrisFix Are you always this positive and responsive? You must have developed a habbit to be. Do you have a Q&A or podcast where you explain how you started with cars as I saw one comment saying that you went to a culinary school.
Abrasive end of a sponge and some carb cleaner does the trick!
I wanna know how he made it show up on the scanner 😅😅😂😂
Checking my owners manual under: savage
Live your channel
Great vid Chris! I'm an automotive engineer and I have to be honest, I questioned myself for a sec :D
Anyone else notice that the barcode number is the first 8 digits of Pi??😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣ma che stupidata è questa!!!!!sei bravo a non ridere!!magari è alimentata a pellet!!
;)
I still wanna know how you got both the DTC scanner and Owner’s Manual to say Piston Return Springs
Is it not common practice to machine and resurface the heads before installing the head gasket?
The moment he switched the camera from head gasket to springs you already know it's a prank
can you please make another video for Nissan Leaf? probably new japanese cars are little different; didnt find pistons under the hood
Those must be some strong springs hey 😜
Common !!!!! Let’s stupidfye every child whit new car !!!!
P0401 is actually egr code
Hhha ngayon lang ako nakakita ng may return spring ang piston hhha
I lost it at the animation demonstrating how the “piston return springs” work
I would love to see a engine swap
Great video! One thing I would probably do before installing the head cover - spray the cleaned tappets and camshafts with with a new oil, so that when you first start the engine up there will be no metal to metal contact in the first 1 - 5 seconds.
The best part was how the return springs leaked coolant
i was so confused bro i was literally thinking like bro how have i never heard of this
One thing he forgot to mention is you should rotate the hose clamps to prevent unnecessary wear on the spring clamps
What was making the clunking noise tho?
got me good on this one 😂 I wanted to learn about head gaskets and found this so now I don’t know what is true of this 😂
Maaaaaaannnn u make this stuff look super easy!!! Be having me in my driveway messing up everything 😂🤣😂🤣. I appreciate the knowledge, Chris!
me: What!???
U r really awesome coz i m an automobile engineer, yor videos are really helping me to learn practically about the cars. Thank u ❤️❤️ And best wishes to u from india🎉
I'm pretty new to working on cars and I was 100% convinced the entire time 😂😂 sitting here in december 🙄 Edit: it's also 2:30am and I'm high I'm now realizing like "Why would the piston need a return spring when there's a whole ass explosion in there"
I don't have overhead cams so where do I put my piston return springs 🤔 my caravan makes the same noise my dad says we should work on it I told him it probably is my piston return rings 😂 I showed him this video and he totally bought it until the blinker fluid 😂😂😂
I still don't know what the prank was in this video
There's no such thing as a piston return spring. Pistons are returned by the burning and expanding gas.
Oh my god 😂
Damn. I was like “piston return springs...that sounds pretty dumb but the engineers are smarter than me” 😂
I’m not proud of how long (abt 5 min in) it took me to realize he’s messing with us 😂
How’d he get that in the scanner and the manual??😂
I miss the Del Sol series :(
"Brand new piston return springs" Wow :D I felt like there is a lot I never knew about sport cars---- :D whe he he
Amazing!!! Thanks.
I was about to start questioning my sanity because I have worked on engines ranging from the smallest single cylinder lawn mowers to engines you can fit a car inside...... and I've never come across piston springs..... My thought process upon seeing the thumbnail was something along the lines of ok it might have been a mistake that slipped though and you meant to say valve springs. Video starts rolling and I start thinking to myself......... this can't be right......... I'm seeing fault codes saying piston springs and I'm seeing springs inside cylinders..... my head hurts. The end of the video rocks up and I notice the date of publication, I think to myself you arse. As payback I'm going to subscribe.....
Oh... i actually believed this lol.
I legit questioned my knowledge of cars
Lmao 😂 I
براڕۆ لەو کەوەرە😂
I know enough about engines, to know, there are no such things as engine return springs but the way you explained everything made me actually believe that could be an issue
Really good head gasket video
Scrolls through LTworlds and sees video >makes confused domestic V8 noises >realizes it IS actually a joke.
On my engine, i use piston retorn goblins
u sure about them springs? Sounds like a connecting rod bearing chief.
Molla di pistoni
Yeah, like the others, an ol' American car shade tree mechanic, "What in the hell are piston return springs? Can they be exactly what the name implies? Crap they do do exactly as the name implies!" I never would have thought anyone would stick springs inside a piston chamber. Go figure.
Hahahahaha, I almost believe it.... 🤣
LOLOLOLOL
I was so confused
I feel like Garage54 should try putting springs in the cylinders.
This legit got me I was like oh wow nice to know, and then I watched the muffler bearing thing and That got me too then I was so confused and like googled them and everything I was so upset that you got me so good😂😂
Ok I'm confused what were the springs actually for?
Oh
good one:D
I thought it was real until I saw the animation
Jokes on you ChrisFix. My piston return springs were bad.
if your car has piston return springs can you take them out and will it still drive the same
Okay. But how did he get the app to say “piston return springs”?!?
Probably editing magic
I actually thought this was real for a time... i have a del sol and I researched piston return springs for like a week only to realize that they arent real lmao
Do you have to drain the coolant before removing the head?
Chris got me watch the whole video, and if he didn't say April fool I would have believe about the Piston return spring.
does this work for motorcycles? my bike is starting to sound funny and im assuming it the piston return springs going bad 😂
my car doesn't have piston return springs because german car bro
Thanks for sharing ;)
So is this process mostly the same for other cars/trucks? Like i get it that stuff will be located differently like if its a V8 or V6 and what not. But if i followed these steps would it work almost the same for a different vehicle that's not a honda?
Man American cars are so cool I am really jealous of u guys. But here in India all are crappy...
When i was 10 i saw this video and believed in him but now im 17 and he betrayed mee😭😭😭😭
cap
@themotogarage ooops yeah my son types all these
I actually removed all da seats in our car to clean the interior thanks to ChrisFix's guidance Keep those vids comming👍👍👍
;)
