Not even here to learn. I just enjoy your videos Chris!
My steering wheel is so messed up, I’ve had to have a cover on in for years, the steering wheel itself is flaking, what do I do?
Actually, I found a new one on eBay.
@ChrisFix no, worse
Is it like the "before" condition in the video?
We drive Germany in Japanese cars and we never have this problem in our cars this problem only in America's car 😅👎👎👎👎👎👎
Thanks for sharing
Why does the leather fade or cracked? It's just because of the sun?
That and over time the oils on your hand being on it will start to deteriorate the leather!
Has the work held up over time? I was wondering if the material would have loosened/stretched and started sliding as it wasn't glued to the wheel.
Is 33ftpounds torque a standard for most cars? Thanks
Real professional job done here, well done Chris 👍👍
Your the best
Hepp full
Do I have a worn steering wheel? No. Hell, do I even have a car? No! But you can be sure I’m going to watch the whole video.
4:19 starts the video. My old 20yo momo Daytona 3 must be some quality vinyl.
Wanted to show how to remove the steering wheel and explain why it needed to be restitched!

Crazy spoke .y look like distortion
Always liked how those kinds of wheels looked!
Adhesive is usually added to the entire length of the leather. Without it, the material will float and feel squishy.
0:02 that steering wheel is so dirty
I make homemade leather wallets, but I was worried on restoring my steering wheel. This gave me confidence thank you!
I prifer sold the car and buy another with the clean steering cover lol
Might start to get expensive lol
lol the people who disliked this video are just mad they can't do this good of a job themselves. don't hate on chris he is just helping the world. in times like this we need guys like chris.
Glad I have a Ford around the same year in the less desirable model lmao. 5.0L v8 explorer 97’ and literally everything is the same. Even the engine bay is similar and that engine bay cleaning video really helped me. Love your videos hope you see these because I know you still respond to older videos 🙌❤️
Chris does every job like he's done it a thousand times. How?! How many times have you done this? How do you have a trick for every task?

Hi Chris. Pls do a video about how you can repair a foam steering wheel with missing peaces of foam !!!! Thanks
Thanks for the video idea!
Shop class meets home ec... :D BTW - instead of cutting the steering wheel... if you sewed the ends slightly differently so as to have a bit of a flap - you could use a seam roller or an iron to make it lay flat. BTW - BTW - I know that fact only from watching leather workers make seats for private aircraft.... very similar process to fit the seams and whatnot...
Thanks for the tip! And yesss
Warp and fill grain weave
WHY would anyone give this guy a thumbs down??! JUST WHY?!
I saw this video 3 years ago and I came back to see it again because it’s genius.
way to much trouble
wished that car was a mustang gt500
whos watching this in 2020
You've lost me at 10:10
Mine requires a puller but the wheel doesn't have any threaded holes to bolt into, its the dumbest shit cuz i think i may ve jacked up the main bolt hole with the puller center piece consistently sliding sideways cuz dumbass me didn't put the big bolt back in but the kit i got didn't have an adapter for it to hug the big bolt, make a bad situation shitty the puller i got only has 2 slots and my wheel has arrows pointing towards 2 vaguely wide open spaces im apparently supposed to pull from but with only 2 slots the puller bolts never grab the wheel, and when they do the center piece starts gettin jacked up crooked. Im pist its the one thing i haven't been able to figure out, of course the more expensive solution [in my case] would have been to neve r have gotton a ford focus in the 1st place, but my wranglers guzzling straight 6 was sucking my wallet dry plusi got a sweet deal for this focus, but now i know why; its a fordable
@viewers - so steering wheel cover then :D
This is such a great video, and it was so easy to follow! I wasnt wrapping an actual wheel though. It was my Thrustmaster TMX racing wheel. It still worked great! Thanks!
Nice vid Why isn’t it in the Driftstang Playlist Stoked for seeing the rollcage installed
Or just buy another steering wheel from the scrap yard.
Chris fix that was amazing .giving me ideas on my trucks steering wheel that's not even leathered wraped .
Hey where did you buy the leather for the steering wheel
I am doing this except I am using ballistic nylon 😎 Just now cut off the leather
I think now u sud start building an engine 😜😜😜
I'm so mad that you also know how to sew and do what is essentially leatherwork in addition to being a fantastic mechanic.
All part of being a good mechanic haha
Hi
Hello!
Or....you can just cut the stitching, peel off the leather and order a Wheelskin custom steering wheel leather hand made cover. from CoveritCanada.
Surper, super great!!!! Hahaah.... This guy is AMAZING!!! Keep it that way bro!!!!
Thanks!
Just buy a damn steering wheel cover I’m
Hahahahha same wheel as my ranger. And my leather is warped too😂
Very nice job, but the wheel feels so much better with some foam on it.
I was going to do this on my Mercedes C-Class but I decided just to double-check eBay first and found a steering wheel that was still in really good shape for 25 bucks. So if you're thinking of refinishing your steering wheel it's never a bad idea just to check the used market first.
you could also just keep the steering wheel on and just remove the old leather and clean the glue off
Wai don't u buy a racing steering
@ChrisFix yaaaaaah luv u bruh ur the best
I'm still driving the car on the street, so I have to retain the airbag for now! But I have something cool coming with the steering wheel very soon, stay tuned!
I've used Wheelskins steering wheel covers with alot of success. It's easier. At the spokes, it isn't quite as nice but, it looks good. Also, I didn't remove the original cover. Yes, it made the wheel a little thicker but, that's fine. The vehicles I did were a 2006 Ford Ranger and a 2006 Expedition.
Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful
How do I know if my steering wheel also has that extra layer underneath the leather?
The upholsterer in me cringed, but good job otherwise. I would recommend getting a kit so the seam looks toasty af. Even holes and no bulk. You also won't have to take the steering wheel off and they make different sizes/shapes for your type of steering wheel.
I love ur vids soooo much u should do more vids do more and u should have 10m subs and u deserve it because ur vids are amazing
