Hi chris on my 2007 Hyundai sonata recently after I changed my brake rotor I've been hearing a lot of squeaking most of the time as I'm driving but when I hit on the brakes it stops squeaking. Why is that and what is causing that
If you copper you can have ABS problems. Watch out for that
I have a 2007 Hyundai Sonata limited. My car wasn’t squeaking until ive recently changed my rotor on front right. After I’ve changed that side been squeaking often i don’t know what it is causing that. It mainly will start after i hit a bump then it starts and even gets louder with i curve left. Stops only when i hit on the brakes. Dont think its the pads cause ive check them and looks good do you know what it could be? @chrisfix
Hey Chris how ya doing? Help meeee . Why my car brakes still making noise when I step on the brake after I have replaced OEM rotors and OEM brakes pads from dealership. Any suggestions ?
I like the sound who ever likes the squik sound giv a thumbs up
4:46 "just a few more bucks to get new ones"??? :D wtf.. I can get them machined for like 5000Huf tops /pair, and buy new ones for like 30000/pair :D that doesent seem just a "few bucks more" to me :D
I have a question??!!! My 2015 Hyundai Elantra was making a weird Squeaking noise on the right side but only after driving for a good 30 minutes on at freeway speeds (70-80) I switched out the breaks and still made the noise so I switched out the rotor. It still feels like it’s doing the same thing. I’m not sure what it could be. I also made sure I had no air leaks or anything else please help.
Short awnser: dont use brakes
A Must watch if this is your Question. Ive known most of these answers for years but this refresher course is : Perfect and Direct, and Straight to the point, well done and well presented.
Just put some grease on the discs
It’s kinda funny because Chris uses break cleaner on pretty much everything except breaks
Save my money!!
_He'e a real mechanic tho_
@ChrisFix - I drive a 2015 Ford F150 and park in a narrow driveway. I never hear my brakes squeak, except for when I'm backing out of my driveway. I tend to backup more cautiously to avoid hitting anything (Driveway is curved and there is another car I pass while backing out), but this is when my brakes sound off the most. Any advice?
Dude, you have taken me to a new level of car repair. I am 46, and I remember getting the Chiltons out. You are saving American men and women and families thousands/millions of dollars in car repair! I am a teacher, and you have a natural teaching ability. I share your links with other car repairers in my family. I think I read you have a degree in Marine Bio. Cool! Thanks so much!
I love squeaky brakes
Instead of squeaking, my brakes play music.
If you only have copper grease can you use that on the guide pins too?
I know I'm 3 years late, but I believe my none brake noise is the dust shield when turning. I noticed its bent, so when turning it seems to be rubbing on something 🤔
You don't get any brake noise if you drive with no brakes.... simple
:o
Hey Chris Fix, I’m having an issue with my Ford Fiesta. I just installed brake around 5,000 miles ago and they squeak constantly when I brake and sometimes they’ll evening make a warping type of sound. Can you please get back to me? Thanks!
Chris, THANK YOU for your detailed, yet concise videos; they are always full of practical information! The headlight restoration video was another amazing and helpful video. I confess that I now check your videos first for repairs even before a web search! You are much appreciated; keep up the great work! ✌🏽
what is wrong when you go real slow and the brakes make a sound like a tuning fork
Hi Chris - 2012 Hyundai Genesis Sedan 3.8L - #1: Brakes squeak after car has been sitting and there is moisture in the air or it's raining. Had 2 shops do fixes but the problem persists #2: Had the catalytic converter replaced 8 months ago and I smell exhaust fumes coming through the air vents
Really terrific teaching video! Things you show here are memorable -- even years after first viewing. Example: You vividly demonstrate what a warped rotor's irregular contact with pads will both look and sound like! (not so much a "squeak" -- as an rhythmic rubbing sound) Have this exact problem now with an older Saturn -- and your video here is the only one I ever saw that both explained and demonstrated just what the problem is. Thank you Chris.
I really needed this video for my car, i've taken it to literally 4 worshops but none of them were able to figure out why the brakes were squeaking, specially since i'd just gotten the front brake pads changed and the whole car serviced. Thankyou so much, this video's given me things to get checked more properly.
What if my brakes are making a knocking noise?
Can breaks make a grinding noise on acceleration only?
Very bad advice. Never use copper grease or other lubricants like shown in this video.
The way you compared copper and graphite paste, was that supposed to be an April's fool joke?
10:21 Are you making a cake? FFS..
My boy has been serving thorough, quality solutions since way back. Your still helping me 3 years later!
Hey Chris would it be possible to do a video on changing Brembo brakes please
I learned a lot trying to change my own brake pads. Had to buy a new breaker bar to take off the nuts that were like welded into the wheel but the whole experience was awesome. Thank you very much and please teach us how to change the timing belt of a 94 corolla seca next if you can HaHa. Cheers.

Hey Chris, great video. Appreciate the detailed explanation. I do have an issue with my Toyota Corolla 2015's breaks. Occasionally I get to hear a clicking noise when I apply breaks. Especially when driving slowly and over road humps. I should say that at times I had crashed on humps at speed because of poor lights at night. So I'm not sure if these are after effects of such incidents. Pls advise Cheers Vinod Balakrishnan
Hi😀😁😊
1:4 alive 1:5 dead

Hi Chris, i have a question on brakes for a Silverado 2017 with 30000 miles, rotor had some groves inside (by the dust shield side) but not on front side, front side if the rotor looks clean and only the front brake pad is wear, do i need to replace the rotor? or just the brake pads?

Awsome Video well detailed Boss Man
What could be the cause for groaning noise when coming to a slow stop?
Help please lol. I have a 2019 Honda Accord and it sometimes makes a scraping/hissing like noise randomly when I'm driving,(while not using breaks). It comes and goes. Car has 30k miles. Noise coming from rear right wheel area.
I hear a noise when I release the brakes but doing it slowly, what is that? Brakes or suspension?
As always, a very clear, concise and easy to understand video from Chris
Hi boss. I have a car Toyota Corolla 12 modal. When i press barke come to much voice. After i everything bark thing's chenge put new all but 5 to 6 days good working then again strat voice to much..what the problem
What about brand new pads and rotors on a 2006 BMW X3 that squeak when in reverse on a cold morning? I believe it’s just the rear wheels. Any solution for this? Thanks
Questions ? No Sir
Hello Chris, hope you are well. I m from Pakistan and have been following you for ages, you are a true inspiration. I have been facing a brake issue in my Toyota Passo 2010 (it's an X variant, 1000 cc.) for the past 3 months, went to a few mechanics but every one of them is giving me different reasons and stories and above all charging me hell obnoxious instead of searching and going to the core issue. The issue I have been facing is the brake oil in the bottle is not staying for too long and vanishes in 2-3 days and empties out completely. I have checked around all 4 wheels for any leakages but didn't find anything. The master cylinder is attached to a black circular container which I believe is the brake pressure pump that has a leak inside. that's what the mechanics claimed. I was also told that replace the ABS unit, how to check and find the issue? how to test ABS if it's faulty or needs to be replaced? how to confirm the master brake pump is faulty or leak without any leak traces? mind there is no errors light on of ABS on the gauge. just a brake oil light. Lastly, please advise a few parts supplies and dealers in the US who I can buy parts cheaply and affordable. I so want to do the job myself, have all the common tools to open it up ut want to discuss with you first. TIA.
?
Have an issue with my SUV car's front disc brake, when driving from the garage being observe after about 3 to 4 miles heard clunking noise on front passenger side although on flat surface road and even reducing the speed to very slow motion. After a several hours from the park and then drive again at first the clunking noise not appeared but after several miles (around 3 to 4 miles) the same clunking noise again, same issue even in a very slow motion on a flat surface road. Any possible reason makes such an issue?
Hi One of my frined change the brake pads but whenever he push brake it make noise, why?
Hi, Chris! Just wanted to ask if I can use Anti seize copper for the guide pins as well. Keep doing awesome videos! Cheers mate!
My wife just woke up and asked what I’m doing I told her watching car porn lol
Chris, you’ve shown there are a lot of parts that can squeak, but your thoughts on this please; I had 2011 Toyota Sienna’s rear brakes (pads) replaced last year at the Toyota dealer. The brakes continued to squeak when stopping. More after first leaving home but also a little at the traffic lights. After a few months I took it back to them and they said there is no problem. Two months ago I took it into Discount Brakes and they also said the brakes are ok. The car does stop ok but the squeaking bothers me. What do you think the culprit might be? Thank you.
I can't be the only 1 to just enjoy the videos that Chris drives in right🤔
I love driving in the videos too!
great vid
Thanks a lot!
Thanks CrisFix, that was so informing video. 😊
This happened to my Truck so my dad had to take it to the mechanic
I have found that dust shields are a common cause in the many brake jobs that I have done. They are easy to accidentally bend when your doing the brake job
So was it just the rotors? My Subaru is making the exact same noise when braking only
Can bearings cause squeal like bad rotors or pads
Such an educator. Short, simple and straight to the point
Good Video, but newer use Copper antiseize on a ABS Breakejob. Copper antiseize conducts the electrical current. Use ceramic antiseize or breakgrease. Stay safe and heathy.
Can't have brake noise if you don't own a car. Think about it.
:o
This has been the most helpful video I've seen here on LTworlds. Its exactly what I have been looking for. Good Job!
What is the purpose of our existence? Is it simply to have a good job, build a family, and enjoy life? Is that all there is? Certainly not. We’re made for so much more. Your purpose is to know God. After we die, the Bible says we’ll face God as our Judge. Have you ever rebelled (sinned) against God? Examine yourself by God’s Law, the Ten Commandments. Have you ever told a lie? Ever stolen (the value is irrelevant)? Jesus said, “Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” In God’s courtroom, our sins are very serious crimes. They’re so evil that the just punishment is death and eternity in a terrible place called Hell. The Bible says that God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. He is rich in mercy and provided a Savior: “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Jesus Christ died on the cross, paying the death penalty for sinners. He then rose from the dead three days later, defeating death. Hundreds saw Him after His resurrection; it’s no fairy tale. Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies about the promised Savior, written in the Holy Scriptures hundreds of years before His birth. Religious rites, sacred traditions, or attending church can’t save you. Salvation is a free gift of God that you can’t earn. To know God and have your sins forgiven, do what the Bible says: repent and believe. Trust in Jesus as you’d trust in a parachute-don’t just “believe” it can save you, put it on and cling to it with all of your being. Wholeheartedly commit yourself to following Christ, and turn your back on sin. Then show your gratitude by obeying His command to be baptized. Be sure to also join a Christian church and read the Bible daily. God will never let you down.
you sir a now my new hero!!
Every other video on YT: 1 min feels like 15 mins. ChrisFix video: 15 mins feels like 1 min. Learnt so much from your channel man, thanks a lot.
That being said.
I think my noise might be the last
Hi Chris! What grit is the sand paper you used for sanding the rotor edges? Thanks!
Hi thank you for this educational show. It was awesome. I just had a complete front brake job brake calipers and rotors. Now the brakes scrub when I pull or turn left. (after watching this video I believe it is most likely a dust shield that is bent on driverside as it doesn't make the noise any other time. Can you tell me if that is logical? Should I make them r&r to replace it or will the noise probably quit at some point?
@ChrisFix thank you Chris 😊
Sometimes those dust shields get accidentally get bent when doing the job. It sounds like a shop did it, so I would ask them to check it out, and they should be able to bend it back and fix it!
Soapy Wooder and Full Synthetic Blinker Fluid fixes all your problems.
Exactly!
I work for advanced auto parts
My moms 2007 Toyota Camrys rear drum breaks squeal, and after all the research I've done, I'm pretty sure there's a hot spot on them where the metal contacts wear down one spot. I'm LTworlds certified on "mekanics" and have done ALOT to my own car, disassembled my engine, interior, painted engine bay, valve covers etc. And yet she doesnt trust me to work on her car, But I'm in the process of convincing her to let me fix them for half the price a mechanic would charge. She already took it to two mechanics and that's actually when it got worse. So I was hoping you could concentrate more on drum styles and rubbing. It squeals bad even when driving and not applying breaks. Ik I could most likely easily fix them, but I wanted professional advice JUST incase I cant, Bc thorn Ill lose her trust, LOL. Thanks in advance, and sorry for the novel I wrote, could've made that shorter
Thanks for the video idea! And let me know if you can convince your mom haha
Just subscribed because of how much of a pro mechanic u show to be
Just changed brake cylinders at the rear now my car makes a weird sound when I drive under 30km. Should I be worried?
I think my front wheel bearings are bad cuz the rotor rubs the pad n shield. I put new rotors n pads on this year and my abs service light turns on sometimes.
If you see this as well, I’ll post a video of what I find and stuff so maybe I can help others too. Hopefully we can both and as a community all learn. I love working on cars and troubke shooting and would rather go through issues and present fixes before others have to. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ thank you Chris!!!
@ChrisFix thank you! It makes a weird noise like Ruston rust or metallic. I do maintenance and it reminds me of thin metal because it isn’t a growl it’s more of a “higher” yet moderate pitch like sheet metal rubbing if you can picture that. I have a 2013 Impala which is prone to the abs cable fraying. Do I have a few thing I. My sleeve but In the morning I’ll check it out and hope it saves some dollar signs. I love you brotha thanks Chris!!!! Your content is 100% pure In Heart and knowledgeable. Can’t thank you enough
You might have accidentally bent the shield (you can just bend it back) and I would reset the abs light when it comes on! Sometimes those components need to be reset after changing out stuff like that
3:32 if a mechanic in the UK saw that brake disk on a car they'd probably faint.
to much information about material supplies using for brakes. Thanks Chris!!!!
Why when I release my foot from breaks I hear noise
I lol'd at 12am when I seen the soapy wooder
This guy is better than my teacher💙
Excellent detailed explanation in all your videos. Great job, well done, you're a master teacher.
i agree all this video
When my mom asks ,where did I learn how to fix a car -opens my phone and shows Chris fix channel
Haha awesome!
